But Wait... There's More

Last week members discussed multiple types of software. This week’s ILTACON TV highlight features legal technology training thought leaders. Explore curated sources on these topics including some from ILTA’s treasure chest.

Choosing the Right Software Solution

Recently members sought software recommendations for templates, for tracking of people or regulations and for torage and retrieval to name a few. Thanks to the sharing mentality of ILTA’s peers, many people offered recommendations. Once armed with options buyers will want to assess not only the quality and security of each product but how it functions with a firm’s entire system. Consider ILTACON 2016 session recordings including “Checking for Weak Links: Security Audits of Your Most Popular Platforms,” “Preventing IT Procurement Pitfalls” and “Product Integrations Galore!” To create security in your product selection process consider the path Ricky Brooman and Adam Rosenthal demonstrate in the blog post, “Preferred Vendor Program: PVP 101.” From here you move on to implementation, adoption and training. The fun has just begun.

ILTACON TV Highlights – Training

Constantly updating applications and procedural guidelines in our workplaces make training an imperative. In Lida Pinkham’s ILTACON TV interview she describes how Ice Miller created competency models as part of their training program. Eileen Whitaker of Traveling Coaches shares methods for raising the skill levels of everyone in an office to better align with a firm’s strategic needs in her ILTACON TV interview. For access to all ILTACON TV interviews, visit the ILTACON TV page. Speaking of training, Tom Phelps shared another blog post in the flipped learning series, “Training & Development – Flipped Learning: The Why’s and When’s of Using the Flipped Training Model.” (In September he shared “Training & Development – Flipped Learning: What Have We Learned So Far?”)

SOMETHING EXTRA – Blockchain in Legal

If you missed it, Deborah Dobson shared more about blockchain in “Why Legal Marketing Technologists Need to Learn about Blockchain.” In August she offered a blockchain primer, “Blockchain: What You Need to Know.” If this has whet your appetite for blockchain applications in the legal industry, listen to the ILTACON 2016 recording, “When Will Blockchains and Smart Contracts Be Important in Legal.” You will also hear more about AI and blockchain in legal if you attend ILTA’s INSIGHT in London in November.

As ILTA’s content curator, I’m always monitoring the discussion forums to discover what topics are top-of-mind among the members. Each week, I focus on a few areas that spark your interest, and I provide some curated resources to assist your own information-gathering on the topics. If there are specific topics you would like assistance exploring, please contact me at joanne@iltanet.org
