Catch a Phish?
At ILTACON (and at the LegalSEC Summit) security experts addressed the need for comprehensive security awareness training with sessions like “Security Awareness: A Blueprint from Start to Finish-ish” and “Remote Users: The Walking Talking Security Risk.” For warnings related specifically to email, view “There Will Be Attacks – Prepare Your Email Defenses.” Bill Ho provides recommendations for all in your organization in the Peer to Peer article, “Have You Been Socially Engineered?” Though not legal specific, AV Comparatives tests anti-phishing tools annually and rates the performance. In the spirit of Halloween, send a frightening message to all those people in your organization who really want to click on that suspicious link in their email. Use facts and figures from the LegalSEC Summit session, “Email Security: The New Breed of Email Attacks” (ILTA login required) and the “Verizon 2016 Data Breach Investigations Report.” The LegalSEC email security session also recommends many tools and techniques to protect organizations from malware and phishing schemes getting into an Inbox in the first place.
ILTA’s Leadership New.0 Seminar
On November 3 ILTA will host its 4th annual day-long seminar on leadership for legal technology professionals. This year the seminar will be held at Dentons US LLP in Chicago. A member recently asked about holiday cards. Many questions circle around this issue that plagues marketing departments every year. Do you send paper or electronic cards? What is and is not funny?
